ST GEORGE’S, September 5, 2016 – The Disciplinary Committee of the Grenada Football Association (GFA) is expected to determine the outcome of a Premier League game between Fontenoy United and Chantimelle FC which ended prematurely at the Beausejour Playing Field on Sunday.
Reports are that two players from Fontenoy were sent off following an incident but when the game restarted Fontenoy walked off the field. During the incident Chantimelle scored before the referee blew off the game.
Under GFA’s regulations the game will be voided and no points awarded pending the decision of the disciplinary committee. However, there was no confirmation whether the match official has submitted a report to the secretariat.
Despite that incident the other games were played without any problems and Paradise FC returned to the top of the standings following a 3-1 victory over Hurricane at Cuthbert Peters Park in Gouyave last night. They moved away from Hard Rock to settle on 24 points.
Earlier, Queens Park Rangers secured a 6-1 win over Gouyave FC to move within two points of Hurricane.
On Saturday, Boca Juniors held title contender Hard Rock to a 1-1 draw while St John’s Sports defeated Mt Rich 4-1.
The tournament continues on Wednesday with Chantimelle and Hurricane at 6:00 p.m. and Mt Rich and Gouyave FC at 8:00 p.m. at Fond, St Patrick.
St John’s Sports will host Hard Rock at the Cuthbert Peters Park, St John from 6:00 p.m.
In afternoon matches, Paradise plays Fontenoy at Victoria Park from 4:30 p.m. while Queens Park Rangers host Boca Juniors at Queens Park at 4:30 p.m.
