Dwain Gill - GCA President

Dwain Gill – GCA President

ST GEORGE’S, June 3, 2016 – The Grenada Cricket Association (GCA) said that Dwain Gill remains as President of the association, following the rescinding of a resignation letter.

Gill tendered his resignation earlier this week but following a meeting on Wednesday Gill withdrew his resignation.

“The Grenada Cricket Association (GCA) wishes to state unequivocally that Dwain Gill’s resignation letter has been withdrawn,” according to a statement from Norman Gilbert, Secretary of the GCA.

“As a result, Mr. Gill remains the substantive President of the GCA. The GCA Board of Management met on Wednesday June 1, 2016, and he (Gill) considered the tremendous strides made in developing the sport on the island especially among young players, the various tournaments at all levels, annual awards recognising the contributions of the stakeholders, and more Grenadian players on West Indies, and development teams,” read the statement.

“I’ve decided to put my country first and get on with the business of cricket in Grenada and by extension the West Indies,” said Gill.

The GCA said that the business of the association continues as normal with the conclusion of the Windward Islands Cricket Board of Control (WICBC) tournament, the preparation and participation of the Grenada U19 team in the WINLOTT U19 team scheduled for St Vincent and the Grenadines later this month, and the hosting of the West Indies U15 tournament in late July.

“Cricket in the West Indies is going through a challenging stage and Gill has demonstrated good leadership qualities in steering the GCA through this period,” the statement concluded.
