ST GEORGE’S, January 6, 2016 – Former Inter-Secondary Schools’ Athletics champion St David’s Catholic Secondary School (SDCSS), will be among the first schools to stage their track and field championships for 2016.

SDCSS, the Girls’ divisional champion for a record 15 straight years, will take to the ‘tracks’ on Saturday January 30 at the La Sagesse Playing Field in St David.

SDCSS will be followed by the Grenville Secondary School (GSS) on February 4 at the Grenville Recreation Ground and the defending boys’ champion, Grenada Boys’ Secondary School (GBSS) on February 10 at the National Stadium.

Also on February 10, will be the Wesley College at the Roy St John Playing Field and the St Andrew’s Anglican Secondary School (SAASS) and the Anglican High School (AHS), defending girls’ champion, will be on February 11 at Progress Park in St Andrew and the National Stadium respectively.

On February 12 it will be the turn of the Grenadian Christian Academy at Pearls in St Andrew and the St John’s Christian Secondary School at Cuthbert Peters Park, St John.

The week will conclude with the St Joseph’s Convent St Andrew at Progress Park and the St Joseph’s Convent St George and the Presentation Brothers’ College at the National Stadium on Saturday February 13.

Athletes of the Happy Hill Secondary School take to the Stadium on February 17 while those of Boca Secondary the following day at the same venue and St Rose Modern Secondary School at Cuthbert Peters Park.

The Roy St John Playing Field is designated for Westermoreland Secondary School on February 19. St Mark’s Secondary School is home at the Alston George Park in Victoria and Grenada Seventh Day Adventist Comprehensive at Fond on February 25.

JW Fletcher Catholic Secondary School, Mac Donald College (MDC) and Westerhall Secondary School (WHSS) will round off the month of February. JW Fletcher is set for the Roy St John Playing Field and MDC is tentatively at Fond Recreation Ground, St Patrick on February 26 and WHSS at La Sagesse, St David on February 27.

Beacon High School will conclude the Secondary Schools’ Athletics Championships at the Roy St John Playing Field on March 10.

Officials of the Ministry of Sports said that due to on-going preparations of grounds as practice venues for the CONCACAF Women’s Under-17 Football Tournament in Grenada from March 3-13, some schools will have to use alternative venues.

The Inter-Secondary Schools’ Athletics Championships are scheduled for March 16-17, the final event at the National Stadium prior to the CARIFTA Games, March 26-28.
