ST GEORGE’S, October 28, 2016 – The third edition of the Grenada Cricket Association (GCA) Twenty20 Club Tournament bowls off on Saturday with more than $14,000 in prizes available for the top teams.
This year’s competition will be played among 16 of the best clubs in Grenada competing for the largest cash prize in local cricket.
Defending champion Idlers Sports Club is among teams playing in the opening matches on Saturday at Progress Park, St Andrew.
The two-time champions will play Red Mud in the second match of the double-header. West Point plays Mt Horne in the opening match from 9:30 a.m.
On Sunday, Craven United plays Junior Murray Youth from 9:30 a.m. and Police and Northern St Mark’s meet in the 1:30 p.m. encounter.
The 2016 edition (GCA T20 III) will be of a different format from the knockout as staged in the past two editions.
The 16 teams will be divided into four groups with the top two teams from each group qualifying for the quarter-finals.
The GCA said the change allows teams a minimum of three games in the competition as compared to the previous format where teams were eliminated after one defeat.
