ST GEORGE’S, April 25, 2016 – Grenada is preparing to play a five-match netball series against Trinidad and Tobago, starting this weekend.

The series begin on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the Tanteen Netball Complex.

The Trinidadians, who will arrive here on Thursday evening, will take on the Grenadians on Friday and continue with two matches on Saturday.

The first game starts at 7:00 a.m. followed by an evening encounter at 7:30 p.m. preceded by four matches in the domestic tournament.

The two sides will play again on Sunday May at 7:00 p.m. and the final match in the series will be contested on Monday May 2 from 6:30 p.m. The admission for the matches is EC$5.00 and on Saturday morning the Grenada Netball Association (GNA) will hold a breakfast sale during the match between Grenada and Trinidad and Tobago as part of their fundraising events to offset the costs of travel to Europe.

Last week the GNA last week announced a 12-member team for the test series and a tour of England next month.

The team, to be led by Deeann Gooding, will participate in the Challenge Section of Netball Europe which runs from May 12-15 and involves the United States, Gibraltar, Ireland, Israel, Malta and Switzerland.

The other members of the team are Denise Cameron, Lattysha Cato, Renee Cooper, Shakera Fortune, Tiffany Frederick, Sharon Jeremiah, Deeanne John, Keshanice Mitchell, Cecile Roberts, Renisha Stafford and Kerissa Thomas.

Nadine Lett is the manager and Oberon Pitterson-Nattie and Kathy-ann Williams-Gabriel as coach and assistant coach respectively.

The national side opens against Israel on May 12 in a morning fixture and plays Gibraltar in an evening match. The following day they play the Republic of Ireland.

The Championship Section involves host England, Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland.

All matches will be played at the Sport Central Northumbria University in Newcastle.
