NORCECA HONvGRN Jun 16POINTE-A-PITRE, Guadeloupe, June 16, 2013 – Honduras waltz past Grenada in three straight sets (25-11, 25-11, 25-8) to win their second game in quick succession and in doing so the Hondurans remain on course to achieve their number one objective and that is to top NORCECA Group N Qualification Tournament towards FIVB Men’s World Championship.

Honduras did well to spread their offence and Luis Matamoros was the leading scorer in the game with nine points.

“It was another tough game but I think our team gelled even better than the first game and that accounted for the wider margins of the scores,” assessed Honduras team captain Luis Membreno.

After congratulating the opponents the coach of the Grenada team, Raphael Brathwaite was regretful when he reported that it was the worst possible time to play against the Central American winners.

“We have had some injuries to key players and so three of our regular players could not start. Notwithstanding that, it was the service game of Honduras that posed the most problems for us. We are really not accustomed to the short service and once we could not handle that, our game fell apart badly,” he said.

Honduras seems on course for topping the group unless Guadeloupe has other ideas. The two will meet twice on Sunday with the playoff game having the real meaning.
