BATON ROUGE, Louisiana, February 28, 2013 – Grenada’s female tennis player of the year Lois Alexis wants to end her college tennis with a third championship title.

Alexis, a senior at Southern University, is into her final season and on course to lead her Jaguars to a fourth consecutive South Western Athletic Conference (SWAC) title.

The Grenadian, who turned 23, last Friday, trounced her opponents last weekend in the first of two Round Ups which count toward the SWAC Championships in April.

Four of the eight teams in the conference were in competition on the weekend and Alexis won all four of her singles’ matches and teamed up to add two doubles’ victories to improve her current conference record for this season to 5-2.

Southern University will compete against the other three schools in the conference on the weekend of March 29.

Lois Alexis (Southern University) defeated Tafadzwa Chiridza (Grambling University) 6-3, 6-1 (Singles);

Alexis/Gabrielle Moore (Southern University) defeated Tabitha Nankya/Oluwatomisin Kassim (Grambling University) 8-1 (Doubles);

Alexis (Southern University) defeated Jessica Taylor (Alabama A&M University) 6-1, 6-4 (Singles);

Alexis (Southern University) defeated Merlin Tipp (Alcorn State University) 6-2, 7-5 (Singles);

Alexis/Moore (Southern University) defeated Kersten Vanem/Viktoria Kosachuk (Alcorn state University) 9-8 (10-4) (Doubles);

Alexis (Southern University) defeated Elizabeth Perez (University of Arkansas Pine-Bluff) 6-2, 6-3 (Singles).

Alexis and her team return to competition on Friday when they play Xavier in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The 2013 SWAC Championships will be played at City Park in New Orleans, April 19-21.
