grenadian-bodybuildersST GEORGE’S, October 2, 2016 – Prime Minister Dr Keith Mitchell on Sunday congratulated Grenadian bodybuilders Damion Daniel and Tyrone James for their outstanding performances at the 44th Central American and Caribbean (CAC) BodyBuilding Championships in the Dominican Republic.

Daniel won the heavyweight category while James copped the second position in the Men’s Physique Class which concluded early Sunday morning.

“Daniel and James are young men who exemplify diligence, determination and commitment to their craft, and they are testaments to the results,” said Dr Mitchell.

The Prime Minister also extended high commendations to the dedicated coaching and management staff, including Cecil Mitchell and International Federation of BodyBuilding and Fitness (IFBB) pro Carmichael Bryan, for their vision and passion in ensuring the readiness of these young men to be able to compete regionally and internationally.

Daniel, a constable in the Royal Grenada Police Force, is a member of the Prime Minister’s security detail. It’s not the first time he has been toasted with a victory, having previously won several regional titles.

Dr Mitchell has applauded Daniel for maintaining a persistent work ethic that has landed him with this prestigious CAC title, which comes on the heels of a major regional sweep in which he won the Sports World Fitness Classic in Trinidad, the Darcy Beckles Invitational Classic in Barbados and Antigua’s Wesley Barrow Invitational Classic.

The Grenadian leader, who also trains in the gym regularly, has also showered praise on James for grabbing silver, six months after winning the Men’s Physique division at the annual Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus Ohio.

“Bodybuilding continues to be a sport on the rise here in Grenada and our athletes are making their mark,” he added.
