KINGSTOWN, St Vincent, July 4, 2016 – Six Grenadian cricketers were selected on the Windward Islands Under-19 team for the West Indies Tournament to be staged in St Vincent and the Grenadines, July 24 to August 20.

The team was selected following the Windward Islands Tournament which ended in St Vincent on Sunday.

Emmanuel Stewart will captain the team which will also include Ryan John, Anil Matthew, Johann Jeremiah, Jonathan Taylor and Darron Nedd.

Stewart was also named the Most Valuable Player for Grenada and top scorer of the tournament with 256 runs.

Grenada finished second in the tournament following its drawn match against St Vincent and the Grenadines who retained the title.

In that match, Stewart made an unbeaten century as Grenada declared on 206 for three. Set 241 for victory, the Vincentians ended on 97 for seven with Darel Cyrus taking three wickets.

Grenada won the toss, decided to bat first and were dismissed for 129. Stewart made 38 not out, Anil Matthew (34) and Jenson Mitchell (20). Othneil Lewis took five for 40 and Rasheed Fredericks four for 42, bowling for the Vincentians.

In reply St Vincent and the Grenadines were bowled out for 95, with Husani Porter making a top score of 32. John took five for 18 and Nedd bagged three for 16, bowling for Grenada.

With a 34-run first innings lead, Grenada declared their second innings at 206 for three with Stewart scoring 102 not out, the only century of the tournament. John added 40 and Shakim Charles made 38.

Set 241 for victory, St Vincent and the Grenadines were 94 for seven at the end of play with Urnel Thomas (34) and Dillon Douglas (28), the only two batsmen to bother the Grenadian bowlers.

Darel Cyrus finished with three for 28.

In the other match, St Lucia defeated Dominica by 80 runs on the final day.

St Lucia scored 124 all out and bowled out the Dominicans for 92.

Dominica were set 231 for victory after St Lucia declared their second innings at 199 for eight. However, the Dominicans were dismissed for 151 with Shadrack Descarte took four for 19, bowling for St Lucia.

Final positions: St Vincent and the Grenadines (21 points), Grenada (15 points), St Lucia (15 points), Dominica (9 points).
