SYDNEY, Australia, August 14, 2015 – Jamaica have locked in a semi-final date with Australia, holding out a fast-finishing Malawi with a 63-62 victory at Netball World Cup here on Friday.

The Sunshine Girls will now meet hosts Australia, who finished top of Pool F after defeating Wales 89-24 on Saturday.

New Zealand will face England in the other semi-final after both nations had comprehensive victories on Day 8 of competition.

The Silver Ferns defeated the Uganda She Cranes 76-33 in the two nations’ first ever meeting, with shooter Maria Tutaia notching up her 100th Test cap. England were also impressive in their 62-46 win over South Africa.

In the other match of the day, Zambia scored their first win of the tournament with a dominant display against Singapore, triumphing 67-36.

Caribbean teams – Trinidad and Tobago and Barbados – will also be in action on Saturday in the placing games. The Calypso Girls take on Scotland while Bajan Gems taking on Singapore.
