ST GEORGE’S, October 31, 2015 – West Indies Women beat Pakistan Women nine runs (Duckworth/Lewis Method) to take an unbeatable 2-0 lead in the three-match Twenty20 International (T20I) Series here on Saturday.

Stafanie Taylor called correctly and sent the visitors into bat in what were sunny and clear conditions at the National Stadium in St George’s before restricting them to 95-7 off 20 overs.

But the skies opened and stopped play with West Indies Women on 91-3 in the 18th over and Taylor two runs short of a half century. Taylor led from the front and crafted a useful innings to steer West Indies Women close to the target of 96. Kyshona Knight was also unbeaten on 13 when play was halted.

Deandra Dottin added 19, Hayley Matthews 5 and Britney Cooper 3.

When the covers were removed the umpires made a decision to call off play because the time for the match had elapsed and therefore the West Indies Women won by DL method and securing the series with a final game to be played on Sunday.

Earlier, Pakistan Women suffered an early setback at six for one in the first over with openers Nain Abidi and Marina Iqbal attempting an extra run and Ks Knight was on target to remove Iqbal.

Bismah Maroof attempted to repair the innings with Abidi and on 23 she was dropped by Afy Fletcher off her bowling in the 12th over.

The next over Maroof lofted a drive off Anisa Mohammed to mid-off where Stacy-Ann King collected and sent her back to the pavilion for 25 and the visitors on 64-3.

But Abidi batted sensibly for 35 even though she survived a mis-stumped when on 18.

Dottin picked up three for 21 off four overs and there was a wicket each for Mohammed (1-15) and Shamilia Connell (1-17).

Summarised Scores:

PAKISTAN WOMEN 95 for seven off 20 overs (Nain Abidi 35, Bismah Maroof 25; Deandra Dottin 3-21). WEST INDIES WOMEN 91 for three off 17.4 overs (Stafanie Taylor 48 not out; Nida Dar 2-12).

West Indies Women won by 11 runs (D/L method)
